What to do in Szklarska Poręba with a toddler (0–3 years)?

• The “#nawycieczkę z wózkiem” walk — the town’s official pushchair route: 3.9 km, easy, about 1 h 20 min without stops. It leads from the centre along Jedności Narodowej and Obrońców Pokoju streets, past the free Spirit of the Mountains Garden (Ogród Ducha Gór) at the Karkonosze Museum, to 11 Listopada street. You return by train from Szklarska Poręba Średnia station.
• Szklarka Waterfall — about 0.5 km along a wide, surfaced path from the car park on road no. 3, roughly 10–15 minutes. You can get there with a pushchair, although there are some stones and bumps. Children under 7 enter Karkonosze National Park free.
• Toy Exhibition — Pop Culture Icons (ul. Jedności Narodowej 16) — children up to 90 cm tall enter free. Little ones love the wall of huggable soft toys, the giant teddy that reaches almost to the ceiling and the models with buttons that start sound and movement.
• Termy Cieplickie thermal baths in Jelenia Góra-Cieplice — indoor paddling pools for children; kids under 4 enter free with an adult.

Which attractions in Szklarska Poręba suit children aged 4–10?

• Dinopark (ul. Muzealna 7) — a trail with 32 dinosaur figures, a 6D cinema, an illusion gallery and gold panning, plus playgrounds, a T-rex sandpit and the Flintstones train for younger kids. In September 2026 open daily 10:00–16:00, ticket desks until 15:00. Tickets have no time limit, and buying online in advance is cheaper and skips the queue. Most attractions are outdoors.
• Alpine Coaster at Esplanada (ul. Grabskiego 5a) — a year-round, lit coaster track. Up to 2 people ride in one cart, so a child can go down with an adult. Next to it there is a play zone with inflatables.
• Leśna Huta glassworks (ul. Kołłątaja 2) — a show of hand-formed glass takes 30–40 minutes, and at the workshops children can make their own souvenir, such as jewellery or an engraved glass. Open Tue–Sat 10:00–18:00.
• Toy Exhibition — quests with hidden characters, a LEGO building wall, and display cases with Hot Wheels, Barbie, Monster High and Labubu. A visit usually takes 30–40 minutes, no booking needed.
• JUNA Earth Museum (ul. Jeleniogórska 9) — minerals, including ones that glow under UV light, and quests to solve during the visit. Children from 3 have a cheaper ticket.
• Gigantei in Piechowice — an outdoor park with giant insect models and the legend of the Spirit of the Mountains, about 5 minutes’ drive from Szklarska according to the park. In September and October 2026 open on Saturdays and Sundays 10:00–17:00.

What to do in Szklarska Poręba with older kids and teenagers?

• Szrenica cable car (ul. Turystyczna 25a) — two sections, about 30 minutes for both. In summer 2026 it runs daily 9:00–16:30, with the last ride up and down by 16:00. Children under 6 ride free and children aged 7–14 have a cheaper ticket. The cable car ticket does not include national park entry.
• Kamieńczyk Waterfall — the highest waterfall in the Polish Sudetes (27 m), with metal stairs in the gorge and a compulsory helmet included in the separate national park fee. It suits children who walk well. Since 16 June 2026 the red and black trail section from the car park to Rozdroże pod Kamieńczykiem has been closed until further notice, so you have to take a detour.
• Querion in Piechowice — Flying Theater, motion platforms, a VR zone and a Sim Racing simulator; open daily 10:00–20:00.
• Chojnik Castle in Sobieszów — ruins of a 14th-century castle on a hilltop. The stony trail from Sobieszów usually takes about an hour, and you need two tickets: national park entry and castle entry.
• Huta Julia Crystal Glassworks in Piechowice — tours of a working crystal glassworks and glass engraving workshops for children from 9.

Where to walk with a pushchair in Szklarska Poręba?

Szklarska Poręba is a mountain town and many trails — even easy ones — are stony. With a pushchair, these three options work:

• The “#nawycieczkę z wózkiem” town route — 3.9 km, about 1 h 20 min. It is the only route the town describes as suitable for pushchairs. On the way you pass the free Spirit of the Mountains Garden, and you return by train from Szklarska Poręba Średnia station.
• Szklarka Waterfall — a short, wide path from the car park on road no. 3; an all-terrain pushchair helps.
• Mumlava Waterfall in Harrachov, Czech Republic — about 1.2 km along an asphalt road from the central car park, under 30 minutes. There is no entry fee on the Czech side of the national park.

Do not take a pushchair to Kamieńczyk Waterfall (stony track and metal stairs in the gorge), up to Chojnik Castle or on the 9.4 km “#nawycieczkę z Duchem Gór” town loop via Chybotek and Złoty Widok. A baby carrier works better there.

How much does national park entry cost with kids?

Children under 7 enter Karkonosze National Park free. A one-day ticket costs 11 PLN (standard) or 5.50 PLN (reduced, e.g. for school pupils) and covers Szklarka Waterfall. The gorge of Kamieńczyk Waterfall has a separate fee: 16 PLN standard and 8 PLN reduced, helmet included — charged even on the park’s free-entry days. Large Family Card holders and residents of nearby municipalities, including Szklarska Poręba and Piechowice, also enter free.
