Useful information: Szklarska Poręba

Emergency numbers

• 112 — the emergency number, available around the clock across Poland.
• GOPR mountain rescue: 985 or 601 100 300 — for accidents in the mountains. The Karkonosze group of GOPR lists both numbers as emergency lines.
• The Ratunek app — GOPR states plainly that “the best way to call for help in the mountains is the free Ratunek app (iOS / Android)”. Download it before you set off: it sends rescuers your exact location.
• 997 — police, 998 — fire service, 999 — ambulance service.

When calling for help, give: the place, what happened, the condition and number of casualties, their age and sex, your name and a number to call back — and never be the first to hang up.

Medical help

Hospital emergency department. The nearest emergency department is in Jelenia Góra at ul. Ogińskiego 6, phone 75 753 71 18. The hospital does not publish opening hours for the department, so we do not claim it is open 24 hours — in a life-threatening emergency call 112 or 999 and the dispatcher will send help.

Night and holiday care. In a notice of 17 July 2026 the hospital in Jelenia Góra announced that this service is temporarily closed from Saturday 8:00 until Sunday 18:00, with patients directed to Szpital Bukowiec in Kowary, where care continues unchanged. On 16 September 2026 the notice was still in force — check the notice for patients (opens in a new tab) (in Polish) before the weekend.

A doctor in town. Szklarska Poręba has the IZER-MED primary care clinic at ul. Szpitalna 1 (reception Mon–Fri 7:30–18:00). It is a clinic, not a hospital with an emergency department.

Pharmacies. There are pharmacies in town, mainly around the centre, but we found no official, dated source for their hours, and we could not reach the county duty-pharmacy roster either. Check the hours on the pharmacy door or by phone locally. At night, call 112 only if life is at risk.

Tourist information and the national park

• Tourist Information Centre, ul. Jedności Narodowej 1A — phone 75 754 77 40; from 31 August to 23 December 2026 open Mon–Fri 8:00–16:00 and Sat 9:00–17:00.
• KPN ticket point Brama Kamieńczyk — park tickets, open all year. The other points are the Kamieńczyk Waterfall, a seasonal desk at the middle station of the Szrenica cable car, and Szklarka in Piechowice.

Note about the park’s education centre at ul. Okrzei 28. The park states that the Centre for Ecological Education is currently completely withdrawn from use because of thermal renovation works, planned to last until the end of 2027. The building is open neither to visitors nor to groups — do not plan a visit there. Classes for organised groups are held temporarily in Jelenia Góra at ul. Chałubińskiego 23.

Before you set off check the park’s tourist bulletin (opens in a new tab), updated daily, with a map of closed trails. In the version we read on 16 September 2026 the park warned that, because of damage to the dam on the Łomnica stream in Karpacz, crossing the barriers and markings from ul. Olimpijska and the yellow trail is categorically forbidden, as approaching the damaged dam endangers health and life. The park also repeated the ban on open fire (report a fire on 112) and reminded visitors that the safe way back from the Szklarka Waterfall to the centre of Szklarska Poręba is the green trail towards Ponura Małpa, not along the national road. Getting here and around

By train. The main station is Szklarska Poręba Górna, with a Koleje Dolnośląskie ticket office and routes to Jelenia Góra, Wrocław Główny, Polana Jakuszycka and Harrachov. According to the town notice of 31 August 2026, replacement buses run instead of trains on the Jelenia Góra – Szklarska Poręba Górna route from 31 August to 24 October 2026. The operator’s station page still shows train departures, so confirm your connection in the Koleje Dolnośląskie disruptions section (opens in a new tab).

The Średnia and Dolna stops. Koleje Dolnośląskie publish no separate timetable pages for them — only Górna appears in the operator’s search. If you plan to get off there, check at portalpasazera.pl or ask at the ticket office.

By bus to Karpacz. Seasonal line 106 runs via Podgórzyn; the dates are in the operator’s timetable. The holiday line 116 ran for the last time on 31 August 2026 and has not operated since 1 September 2026 — if you see it in an older timetable, it is out of date.

Around town. Two municipal bus lines (1 and 2) serve Szklarska Poręba. A ticket costs 8 PLN from the driver, and the published timetable is valid until 31 December 2026; the line 1 timetable changed on 14 September 2026.

FlixBus. We could not confirm a FlixBus stop in Szklarska Poręba or Jakuszyce — the operator’s stop page returns an error and its search tool could not be read. If you are planning such a trip, check directly with the carrier.

ATMs, fuel and post

We know the places below from OpenStreetMap — neither the ATM networks nor the operators confirmed them, so treat this as a hint where to look, not as reliable opening hours.

• ATMs. According to OpenStreetMap there are a dozen or so Euronet cash machines in town, mostly along ul. Jedności Narodowej, Turystyczna and Kilińskiego, plus several Planet Cash machines in the lower part of the centre and at Polana Jakuszycka; some are marked as available 24/7. There are also bank branches with ATMs in the centre.
• Fuel. According to OpenStreetMap there is an Orlen petrol station in the centre (marked as open 24/7), and a second station, Müller, stands by the national road in Jakuszyce; its hours are unknown to us.
• Electric car charging. We could not confirm any public charging point within Szklarska Poręba: a query for charging stations in OpenStreetMap returned no result inside the town, and the operators’ maps could not be read. If you need to charge, check your operator’s app.
• Post office. A Poczta Polska branch operates in the centre, around ul. Jedności Narodowej. Its hours come only from OpenStreetMap and the official branch finder could not be read — confirm them on site.
