Trzy Świnki — border rocks below Szrenica
Trzy Świnki (“Three Little Pigs”) are a group of granite rocks up to 8 metres high on the southern slopes of Szrenica, right on the Polish–Czech border in Karkonosze National Park. They sit on the red trail (the Polish–Czech Friendship Trail), about 10 minutes from the summit of Szrenica and its mountain hut.
What are Trzy Świnki?
A group of rocks up to 8 metres high made of porphyritic granite with large cream-coloured feldspar crystals. Aplite veins and regular joints cut through the granite, so the blocks look stacked. The Twarożnik rocks are next to them, and Mokra Przełęcz (pass) lies below.
The rocks sit exactly on the border — in Karkonosze National Park on the Polish side and in Krkonoše National Park on the Czech side. In German they are the Sausteine, in Czech Svinské kameny.
How do I get there?
From the summit of Szrenica, where the mountain hut stands, it is about a 10-minute walk. The red trail — the Polish–Czech Friendship Trail, part of the Main Sudeten Trail — passes right by, and a green trail runs nearby. You can ride up the slope on the Szrenica cable car from Szklarska Poręba.
Do I need a ticket?
Yes, the rocks are in Karkonosze National Park. A one-day ticket costs 11 PLN (reduced 5.50 PLN, as of September 2026), and children under 7 go free. The cable car ticket does not include the park fee. Details on the park ticket page.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are allowed on the red trail by the rocks, but only on a lead, and the owner should carry a muzzle. Careful if you descend towards the Pod Łabskim Szczytem hut: the whole Ścieżka nad Reglami (the green trail along Mokra Droga across the slopes of Szrenica to Jakuszyce) is closed to dogs.
The park’s “Trip to Szrenica” loop
Karkonosze National Park describes a 14 km loop from ul. Turystyczna: black trail to the lower lift station and Rozdroże pod Kamieńczykiem, red via the Kamieńczyk Waterfall to Hala Szrenicka, red via Graniczna Łąka and Trzy Świnki to Mokra Przełęcz, green along Mokra Droga to the Pod Łabskim Szczytem hut, and yellow back. Important: since 16 June 2026 the section of the red and black trails from the car park to Rozdroże pod Kamieńczykiem has been closed until further notice — check the detour before you set off.
When can I go?
Park trails are open from an hour before sunrise to an hour after sunset. In winter the park closes some trails depending on conditions — see the KPN trail notice (opens in a new tab) (in Polish).
