Łabski Szczyt above Szklarska Poręba
Łabski Szczyt (1,471 m) is the fourth-highest peak of the Polish Karkonosze (Giant Mountains), on the border ridge above Szklarska Poręba in Karkonosze National Park. The red Main Sudetes Trail crosses it on the way from Szrenica to Śnieżne Kotły, and a park ticket is required (11 PLN, as of September 2026).
Is it the same as the Pod Łabskim Szczytem hut?
No. Łabski Szczyt is the summit on the ridge (1,471 m); the Pod Łabskim Szczytem mountain hut lies much lower, at 1,168 m, on the northern slope. There is no hut on the summit.
How to get up
- Along the ridge from Szrenica: after riding the Szrenica cable car, take the green trail to the Trzy Świnki rocks and the red trail over Twarożnik. This is part of the route to Śnieżne Kotły — about 4.9 km and 1 h 40 min in total, with Łabski Szczyt before its end.
- The yellow trail from the Pod Łabskim Szczytem hut does not cross the summit; it traverses the slope towards the Śnieżne Kotły plateau (about 45 minutes, steep and narrow).
We do not give a walking time from town to the summit, as we found no reliable source — plan a full day.
Good to know
- The ridge is exposed to wind and fog; bring a warm, waterproof layer.
- In winter some trails are closed depending on conditions (typically the yellow trail from the hut to Śnieżne Kotły). In spring 2026 sections between Mokre Rozdroże and Śnieżne Kotły were closed to protect black grouse and falcons.
- Dogs must be on a lead and are banned on the whole green Ścieżka nad Reglami trail, including from the hut along Mokra Droga to Jakuszyce.
