Zbójeckie Skały viewpoint in Szklarska Poręba
Zbójeckie Skały (“Robbers’ Rocks”) is a viewpoint above Szklarska Poręba Dolna with a free terrace whose design resembles a grand piano. The shortest way up is the yellow trail from Szklarska Poręba Dolna railway station — about 700 m uphill, roughly 25 minutes.
What can you see?
From the terrace you look over Szklarska Poręba Dolna, Szrenica and Wielki Szyszak, and in the distance Mount Śnieżka, the Jelenia Góra Valley and the Rudawy Janowickie.
What is the history?
More than a hundred years ago there was an inn here, and a small lookout tower stood on the rock where the terrace is today. The current terrace stands out with its original, piano-like design.
Is it free?
Yes. It is a town terrace outside Karkonosze National Park, with no ticket office.
What can I combine it with?
- Zakręt Śmierci (Death’s Bend) — about 1.5 km on the yellow or black trail, around 25–30 minutes, passing a 17th-century pyrite mine adit.
- Wysoki Kamień — further on the yellow trail from Zakręt Śmierci, about 3.1 km.
- Town route “#nawycieczkę z widokami” — 9.6 km, about 3.5 hours without breaks, moderate: from the centre on the red trail to Wysoki Kamień, then yellow via Zakręt Śmierci and Zbójeckie Skały to Szklarska Poręba Dolna station, back by train. The town rates it fine with a baby carrier and a dog, but not with a pushchair.
Are the trails ever closed?
Yes, occasionally for forestry work — for example, the yellow trail towards Zbójeckie Skały was closed from 13 January to 5 March 2026. Check the notices on the town tourism website (opens in a new tab) (in Polish) before you go.
