Złoty Widok viewpoint in Szklarska Poręba
Złoty Widok (“Golden View”) is a free viewing terrace in Szklarska Poręba, opened in spring 2020 above a rock cliff more than 20 metres high. It looks out over the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains) and the Kamienna valley, and it is about a 5-minute walk from the car park on ul. Matejki.
What can you see from Złoty Widok?
The terrace offers a panorama of the Karkonosze and the Kamienna valley, and partly of the Jelenia Góra Valley. The hill it stands on is 610 m above sea level.
The terrace was built under the Polish–Czech INTERREG V-A programme with EU support. It is fenced, with wooden loungers and benches.
Is it free?
Yes, the terrace is free and there is no ticket office. Only the car park on ul. Matejki is paid.
Can you get there with a pushchair?
The shortest approach from ul. Matejki is about 250 m along a wide forest track without big climbs — according to a visitor report from December 2025 it is manageable with a pushchair. The terrace stands above a cliff, so keep small children close.
What else is nearby?
- Chybotek, a granite boulder you can gently rock, is a few minutes away; seeing both takes about 45–60 minutes.
- The Karkonosz Grave is on the blue trail between Złoty Widok and Chybotek.
- The Szklarka Waterfall is inside Karkonosze National Park, where a park ticket is required.
